Let’s jog Rahul’s memory on Congress surrender legacy: Assam CM
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has fired a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, criticizing his recent remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged “surrender” to the US on climate change. Sarma, known for his sharp tongue and quick wit, took to the social media platform to set the record straight, saying that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, India did not plead and that the Congress party has a legacy of surrendering national interests.
The controversy began when Rahul Gandhi, during a speech in the Lok Sabha, accused PM Modi of surrendering to international pressure on climate change. The Congress leader claimed that the Prime Minister’s decision to ratify the Paris Climate Agreement was a sign of his willingness to compromise India’s national interests.
However, Sarma took issue with Rahul Gandhi’s remarks, saying that the Congress leader was trying to rewrite history. In a series of tweets, Sarma listed several instances where the Congress party had compromised national interests, saying that it was time to “jog Rahul’s memory” on the party’s legacy of surrender.
Sarma’s first example was the infamous 1971 Indo-Pak War, where India was on the brink of defeat but was saved by the Pakistan Army’s surrender at Dacca. “Let’s jog Rahul’s memory as to which party and family has surrendered India’s interest,” Sarma tweeted. “We all know that it was the Congress party, led by Indira Gandhi, that had to beg for peace after the 1971 war.”
The Assam CM’s next example was the 1999 Kargil War, where the Congress-led government had to intervene to stop the PakistaniArmy’s incursion into Indian territory. “Remember how the Congress government, led by HD Deve Gowda, had to beg the US for help during the Kargil War?” Sarma asked. “We didn’t ‘surrender’ to anyone; we fought back and won.”
Sarma also brought up the issue of the Border Action Team (BAT) infiltration along the LoC, saying that the Congress party had been silent on the issue for years. “Why did the Congress party not speak out against the BAT infiltration during their tenure?” Sarma asked. “Was it because they were too busy ‘surrendering’ India’s interests to other nations?”
The Assam CM also took a swipe at the Congress party’s foreign policy, saying that it was weak and ineffective. “Under Congress rule, India’s foreign policy was dictated by foreign powers,” Sarma tweeted. “They would beg for favors and compromise national interests. We, on the other hand, have a strong and independent foreign policy under PM Modi.”
Sarma’s final example was the recent controversy over the US-India trade deal, where the Congress party had accused the government of compromising national interests. “Why did the Congress party object to the US-India trade deal?” Sarma asked. “Was it because they wanted India to compromise its interests or because they were jealous of the progress made by the Modi government?”
In conclusion, Sarma said that the Congress party must stop projecting its own history of cowardice and surrender. “Let’s not rewrite history,” he tweeted. “Let’s acknowledge the sacrifices made by our armed forces and the bravery of our leaders who fought for India’s independence.”
The Assam CM’s scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many supporting Sarma’s views and others defending Rahul Gandhi’s remarks. However, one thing is clear – the controversy has brought attention to the Congress party’s legacy of surrender and compromise, and it remains to be seen how the party will respond to these allegations.
