Title: Mufti Alleges Foul Play After OGW Jumps in J&K River, Drowns; BJP Slams Her
In a shocking turn of events, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has alleged foul play after an overground worker (OGW) jumped into a river in Kulgam district and drowned. The OGW, who was associated with the separatist movement, was picked up by the Army two days ago, according to local sources. Mufti’s claim has sparked a heated debate, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) slamming her remarks.
According to reports, the OGW, identified as a 25-year-old man, was last seen being taken away by the Army personnel on Wednesday. However, locals claimed that he jumped into the river on Thursday, allegedly after being subjected to physical torture and mental trauma. The man’s body was recovered from the river on Friday, and an investigation has been launched by the police.
Mufti took to Twitter to express her concerns over the incident, stating that the locals alleged that the OGW was picked up by the Army two days ago. She tweeted, “Disturbing news from Kulgam where an overground worker was picked up by Army 2 days ago and allegedly tortured before being forced to jump into the river & drown. We demand an immediate probe into this heinous act.”
However, the BJP was quick to respond to Mufti’s claims, accusing her of making baseless allegations. BJP leader Sanju Verma said, “Mehbooba, after the Pahalgam terror attack, said, ‘Why blame Pakistan?’ Now, she’s making similar allegations. It’s unfortunate that she’s politicizing a tragic incident.”
Verma’s comments were in reference to Mufti’s previous statement on the Pahalgam terror attack, where she had questioned the need to blame Pakistan for the incident. The Pahalgam terror attack had taken place in August 2019, in which two tourists were killed.
Mufti’s allegations have sparked a heated debate on social media, with many questioning the role of the Army in the incident. However, the Army has denied any involvement in the OGW’s death, stating that he was picked up by the security forces for questioning and was later released.
The incident has also raised questions over the treatment of OGWs in the region. Many OGWs have been detained and tortured by security forces, leading to allegations of human rights abuses. The Jammu and Kashmir government has launched an investigation into the incident, and experts are calling for a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding the OGW’s death.
In the midst of the controversy, the people of Kulgam district are demanding justice for the OGW. Locals have been protesting on the streets, demanding that the government take action against those responsible for the OGW’s death. The protests have been peaceful, with demonstrators carrying banners and chanting slogans demanding justice.
As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen whether Mufti’s allegations will be proven true or not. However, the incident has once again highlighted the complexities of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, where allegations of human rights abuses and political manipulation are commonplace.
