RCB record their fourth straight win in WPL 2026
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) women’s team continued their impressive run in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026, registering their fourth consecutive win by defeating the Delhi Capitals (DC) by eight wickets in Navi Mumbai on Saturday. The match, which was the 11th of the tournament, saw RCB chase down a target of 167 runs with ease, thanks to brilliant performances from their captain Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Voll.
The Delhi Capitals, who were put in to bat first by RCB, got off to a solid start with their opening pair of Shafali Verma and Alice Capsey. The two batswomen played some aggressive cricket, taking on the RCB bowlers and scoring at a brisk pace. Shafali Verma, in particular, was in top form, hitting boundaries and sixes with ease. She brought up her half-century in just 31 balls, and her partnership with Capsey took DC to 73/0 in the first 10 overs.
However, the introduction of Lauren Bell and Sayali Satghare into the attack changed the course of the game. Both bowlers picked up three wickets each, with Bell dismissing Capsey and Verma, while Satghare got rid of the DC middle order. Verma’s 62(41) was the highest score for DC, but her team could only manage 166/8 in their 20 overs.
RCB’s chase got off to a rocky start, with the loss of their opening batswoman, Disha Kasat, in the first over. However, captain Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry steadied the ship, taking the score to 44/1 in the first six overs. Mandhana, who has been in top form throughout the tournament, played some exquisite shots, taking on the DC bowlers and scoring at a rapid pace.
When Perry fell to Jess Jonassen in the 10th over, Georgia Voll joined Mandhana at the crease. The two batswomen played some brilliant cricket, taking the attack to the DC bowlers and scoring boundaries and sixes with ease. Mandhana brought up her half-century in 45 balls, and her partnership with Voll took RCB to 133/2 in the 16th over.
Mandhana’s 96(61) was the highest score for RCB, but she fell short of her century, getting caught by Shafali Verma off the bowling of Arundhati Reddy. However, Voll remained unbeaten on 54(42), taking RCB across the line with 10 balls to spare. The win took RCB to the top of the WPL 2026 points table, with four wins from four matches.
The loss was a setback for the Delhi Capitals, who have now lost three matches in a row. They will need to regroup and come up with a new strategy if they want to make it to the playoffs. On the other hand, RCB will look to continue their winning streak, with their next match against the Gujarat Giants on Tuesday.
The Women’s Premier League 2026 has been a huge success so far, with some exciting matches and brilliant performances from the players. The tournament has given a platform to young and talented players to showcase their skills, and it has been a treat to watch for cricket fans around the world.
In conclusion, RCB’s win over DC was a dominating performance, with their bowlers and batswomen both doing well. The team will look to continue their winning streak, while DC will need to regroup and come up with a new strategy to turn their fortunes around. With the tournament still in its early stages, there is a lot to look forward to, and cricket fans can expect some exciting matches in the days to come.
