Youth chased by dogs, dies after bike falls into ditch in Delhi
In a tragic incident that highlights the dangers of stray animals on the streets, a 20-year-old youth lost his life in a bid to escape a pack of stray dogs in southeast Delhi. The incident occurred on Saturday night in the Jaitpur Pusta area, where the victim, Tushar Kumar, and his colleague were riding a motorcycle. As they attempted to flee from the chasing dogs, their bike fell into a ditch, resulting in fatal injuries to Kumar.
According to the police, the accident happened around 9 pm on Saturday, when Kumar and his colleague were returning from work. As they were riding their motorcycle, a group of stray dogs suddenly appeared on the road, chasing them. In a desperate bid to escape the dogs, the duo sped up their bike, but unfortunately, they lost control of the vehicle. The motorcycle fell into a ditch on the side of the road, throwing both riders off.
Kumar, who was a compounder at a local clinic, suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. His colleague, who has not been named, sustained minor injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are reviewing the circumstances that led to the accident. “We are investigating the matter and trying to ascertain the sequence of events that led to the accident,” said a police official. “The victim’s family has been informed, and we are providing them with all necessary support.”
The incident has sparked concerns about the growing menace of stray dogs on the streets of Delhi. While the city has seen numerous cases of dog bites and attacks, this incident highlights the fatal consequences of such encounters. Residents of the area have long been complaining about the presence of stray dogs, which they claim are a threat to their safety.
“This is not the first time that we have seen stray dogs attacking people in our area,” said a local resident. “We have been requesting the authorities to take action against the stray dog menace, but nothing seems to have been done. This incident is a wake-up call for the authorities to take concrete steps to address this issue.”
The Delhi Municipal Corporation has been criticized for its failure to effectively tackle the stray dog problem. Despite numerous complaints and incidents, the corporation has not been able to implement a comprehensive plan to sterilize and vaccinate stray dogs, or to prevent them from roaming the streets.
The incident has also raised questions about the safety of roads in Delhi. The Jaitpur Pusta area, where the accident occurred, is known for its poor road conditions and lack of street lighting. Residents have long been demanding better infrastructure and safety measures, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
As the city mourns the loss of a young life, it is imperative that the authorities take immediate action to address the stray dog menace and improve road safety. The Delhi government and municipal corporations must work together to implement effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
In the meantime, the family of Tushar Kumar is left to pick up the pieces and come to terms with their loss. Kumar’s death is a tragic reminder of the dangers that lurk on the streets of Delhi, and the need for urgent action to prevent such incidents.
